Glued on head???

I was working on a ktm 125 sx 1999 model the other day doing a top end. I went to remove the head, took out the 6 bolts and began to try lift it off but it wouldn't budge. Looked out the manual and had done everything right. In my past experience with rebuilding my kdx the head just practically fell off. So after about 20 mins of trying to persuade it loose with a rubber mallet I gave up and put a screw driver through the top engine mount on the head and pulled straight up. Instead of the head coming off the mount ripped straight of the head......

I could have ran the engine without putting the head bolts back in.

Has anyone come across anything like this?? Could it be glued on?

The only difference between the kdx and ktm head gasket is the ktm has a paper style head gasket.

Cheers for any help.

Btw I did complete the top end without removing the head.

KTM's have a double o-ring head not paper gasket, the base gasket is paper on the kdx and the ktm. I don't have an answer as to why it was so stuck

Tell us what you had for breakfast that morning------you pulled hard enough to break the mounting bracket off the head? :kick:

You did have all the bolts out---right?

I will guess that some previous mechanic did it oddly.

tap it with a rubber mallet.
