E VS H engine

Post by s10gto »

Any big difference in a E series engine to a H series ? Reason being I am looking to add another KDX for a buddy bike / spare. Been looking for another H but I am finding many E's at very interesting $$$. Is the engine comparable and main differences the frame? Thanks

The E makes more bottom end actually. It does however like to strip out the powervalve gears albeit after a long service life. Good reason to run a synthetic oil to keep the valves clean to reduce stress on the gears. Yes, the perimeter frame on the newer model is quite a bit different. Many prefer the older frame as a cushy trail machine.

In my craigslist browsing, I have seen a few nice E models priced at "decent" H model pricing. Even as we go into 2014, I see the "E" model as still a viable option.
Thank you for participating on kdxrider.net. :bravo:
