Strange reed holder/cage

Post by Tedh98 »

I found this on the H series 200 that I'm parting out. I've never seen a one piece, all metal reed holder/cage on a KDX before. They have always been the rubber piece + reed cage and plastic insert.

It bolts to the cylinder head perfectly. Based on a side-by-side comparison, it looks identical to the KDX set-up. There are only 2 screw holes for the reeds, so it doesn't take KDX reeds.

Has anyone seen one of these before?

Yep agreed....rad valve....the reeds look very errr, used ! I would replace these for some new reeds & gasket along with a new rubber intake boot as these stretch with age.

Thanks guys, I guess it wasn't so strange after all.

Anyone have experience with one of these on the KDX?

Yes I run one on my 220, once you have the jetting dialled in, it works really well...it has its own `power wing` cast into the body of the block....I have run both the boyesen & OE block & there`s a noticeable difference in the way the power is delivered.
