Did anyone else's klx300 stem have a roll pin in it?
I was wondering if anyone else that did the kdx 300 swap noticed whether their triple clamp stem had a roll pin pressed into it like mine did? Also, my stem had a large notch machined into it that looked kind of like the groove on a crankshaft that the flywheel is indexed with. A key way? Anywho, what the heck was with that? Lol.

Notch is probably for a steering lock on Dual-sport models.

That's what I suspected. Didn't know there was a dual sport model. Thanks!

My KLX stem had a roll pin. And I believe it was into a blind hole (meaning the stem could not be removed without drilling in from the other side to remove the pin.)

There is a thread from 2005 on this also.
It was mentioned that the model had a keyswitch - may have been a KDX SR street legal foreign model.

I was a repo agent once, and I got a Harley out of a basement and up a set of stairs, down a long driveway, and into my truck all with the steering lock turned hard right lol. I "walked" it by dragging the back end around a little, pushing forward a foot, dragging back end, pushing forward etc. long story short, a key lock on a kdx ain't stopping sh*t lol.Jason wrote:There is a thread from 2005 on this also.

I guess that's what they're for in the long run. We unfortunately broke every turn signal, taillight, and damaged the seat and tank trying to get that Harley. He hadn't made a payment in 9 months, hid the bike for the whole time, and threatened me with a knife once before when we asked for the bike. Amazingly, one day after the repo he was magically able to pay what he owed plus the $300 repo fee plus the $100 rollback fee. Scumbag. Never let a vehicle you want to keep get repoed guys. We tried to treat the repos right, but some of the delinquent folks made it impossible to get the vehicles without damaging them. Invariably, they would find the damned money the day after we repoed their vehicle. Oftentimes their cutesy attempts to thwart repossession caused them hundreds of dollars repairing the damage we inadvertently caused.Jason wrote:...but it sure would slow one down.

Here's how she looked after my first hard ride with the usd forks.
The front disc guard was the one I had installed on my other forks, modded to fit. It's crooked cause I had just removed it to pull leaves out of my wheel. The problem i had with the front end feeling "flighty" at speed was eventually found to be a front wheel that needed trueing. It was wobbling almost imperceptibly and an hour adjusting spokes got it righteous. Forks got some ATF to help clean em out until I put in seals and bushings in a few days. I figured a few rides with the ATF will help dislodge Any gunk that's built up. By the way: do I have to loosen the bottom hex bolt on the bottom if the forks to get them apart for seal changes, or do I just take off the fork caps, remove the circlips under the dust seals, and extend the fork until they separate?

As best I remember, you will need to remove the cartridge first.
