KDX250 Starter Gear Assembly
I'm replacing the springs on the starter shaft. I know there's a steel tab that tucks under a keeper that's bolted onto the case housing. The big spring is held in place with on of it's tangs stuck into a hole drilled into the case. Is there a particular way to put the spring in? I ask since sometimes while I'm kicking over the bike, the gears won't catch. I can't find any noticable wear in this assembly.

The big spring should be installed so that the long leg that goes into the hole in the case is towards the case. Check a parts diagram like 1994 KDX250 Kickstarter

I've got bigger problems. Hole in case that holds the starter shaft in place is worn out. Yikes..
