Can an Exhaust Leak Cause a Lean Condition?

So on my new 91 kdx200, the O-rings on the pipe were bad and it had an exhaust leak. It seemed to act like it was running lean with the leak. I pulled the pipe and replaced the O-rings today, but haven' rode it since. Was wondering if the exhaust leak could of had something to do with the bike acting like it was running lean?

Well that's good news. When I mess with it after work tomorrow, I will move the needle clip back to where it was and go for a ride.

I finally got a day off from work, and got the bike all put back together. Replaced the O-rings, gasket, and springs. What a difference! Planning on going riding this Sunday. Thanks guys.

Bike rode great! After doing a little bit of trail tuning, had no issues. Definitely need a new back tire, but I am very happy with the bike.

Exh leak at the header can very much cause a lean condition. At the stinger/silencer, no. Gasses go both ways at the exh port...
