What gearing do u guys like best 200?
i thought i had 13/52 because the po told me so, and i found first too low for my taste and only topped out at about 56mph. Way too quick to hit the redline in the woods for me. Well, i found out i had a 50 tooth after i had bought and installed a 14 tooth countershaft sprocket! The odd thing is- i love this ratio. To me, first is way more useable and it added about 6mph to the top end. Im a fan of this gearing! I notice a lot of u guys run lower ratios; anyone ever try the 14/50 combo that im using?

That 14/50 ratio is the same as the 13/47 ratio used on the early E-series bikes. You're just carrying more weight around with the larger sprockets and longer chain.
I'm currently running 13/48 because RMATV sent me a 48 rear when I told them I wanted the stock gearing. The only they have ever messed my order. Next time I will be back to the 13/47.

I like it! I thought 13/50 was a mess because first was way too low. Felt like it to me anyway.

I run 14/47 on both my E & H bikes, love that ratio. Over all I find the bike very manageable on open trails and in the tight single track...even run the Dez with that gearing.

I was under the assumption that a larger countershaft sprocket was better due to the less severe angle of the chain? Next time i regear i will indeed go smaller, but i tell you what i love the way my bike runs with this setup. To me, it makes the gearspread as smooth as butter, but i may not be the best judge of these things, lol. It SEEMS pretty nice.SS109 wrote:That 14/50 ratio is the same as the 13/47 ratio used on the early E-series bikes. You're just carrying more weight around with the larger sprockets and longer chain.

I have 12/48 on one rim and 12/47 on another. I will probably go with 13/50 or 52 next time.

Lol all you want, I use to be young and have the need for speed, but now it's all about enjoying the ride.Actionman wrote:Top speed.......14mph! lolVelocity_Stack wrote:12/52 here.

I'm not out to set speed records.
I enjoy the ability to make technical maneuvers at a slower pace.
After all, I am riding with my 10 year old daughter on her XR70R.
Not much fun for her if I run off and leave her.
I was just sharing what seems to be working best for me, in my surroundings and limited riding areas.

Im old too! lol. Just having fun with you. My real problem with that low of gearing is that even 13/50(my original gearing) made first too low. I always felt like I needed a gear between first and second. Its personal preference I know, but I always was either overreving on hillclimbs or lugging in second too much. I enjoy stock gearing.

I also am riding with my 6 year old on his atv so most of the time i spend on the bike is at about 11mph. its nice to be able to accidentally dump the clutch in the woods and not stall the bike though.
