Hi adam , try using some ptf tape on the bolt thread & tighten up to the point before it goes loose, apply some silicone around the bolt head to prevent it from coming undone & falling out when you ride...simple yet effective fix bud elseou will have to drill out the plug hole ( swarf in the engine ,so that will need to be cleaned out ) then helicoil it...pain in the arse for what its worth.

Re: Sump bung stripped
it is my experience that helicoils work great...in single use applications
something that needs to get torqued down once and left alone
now, a drain plug is slightly different, that gets tightened down, loosened, tightened down, loosened it the helicoils tend to work their way out
if it was my bike, I would just buy the next size up bolt and cut new threads to match

You can go down to the local parts store and check the drain plugs they have to find the next step up. I would probably try a newer Ford drain plug because they are about a 12mm and have a flanged head with an o ring to seal it. But I have not tried it so I am not sure that it will fit so check before you drill.

Mine stripped this season I tapped it up to a 7/16-20..I think...luckily my bro knew what he was doing and had access to all the tools where he works. There's more bite in those coarser threads too it's better going imperial. I'd recommend taking it to a shop it shouldn't cost you more than 20 euros or somethin.
Also don't forget to flush out all the metal shavings after....get a quart of oil to designate to flushing out the shavings. Filter it through a J cloth after each flush. Luckily I decided not to skip this step because a huge glob of shavings fell out!

Re: Sump bung stripped
Hi thanks for all the help, I have only just bought the bike so for now I have used some ptfe tape and silicone sealer to secure the bung, I will look at getting the hole re threaded to m12 ASAP as advised.
