What about "Plastic Dip"? You know, the stuff that you dip tools in to coat the handles and such. Its durable and replaceable. I think I will give it a try

It sounds like it would be cheaper to buy some frame guards than to get the bottle of Plastic Dip large enough to dip a frame down into.

Keep in mind that the damage to the paint is caused by your boots. The hard plastic used on modern boots holds abrasive particles and abrades the paint. For this reason, I prefer to wear Wookie boots. Sure they're a little warm and offer minimal protection, but keeping my bike looking like it never touched dirt makes it all worthwhile. A side benefit is evident when running into the occasional Sasquatch. Why, if you're in Wookie boots, they don't spook near as easy, and may even offer up some of their secret Yeti-shine for a toast!

Ok Mr. Smartarse Jason...... I guess I had that one coming for all the "got the manual comments".

I did apply a bit of the plastic dip last night. I taped off the areas that I wanted to protect. I brushed on the plastic dip and smoothed it with my finger. I dipped my finger in water and it kept the dip from sticking to my finger and made the plastic dip fairly smooth. It looks ok, time will tell if it holds up.

I applied the dip while dancing a ballet in my wookie boots

My wife and son are very worried about me now

The plastic dip held up great during a fairly hard ride in the desert behind my house.

Yep it pretty nice, especially the day after a light rain. Nothing but a bit of dust on the rims after a good ride.

I got the dip at Home Depot. I have also seen it at Checker Auto and Pep Boys

Well, the Plastic dip looked and worked great for the first ride. Second ride 75% of it wasnt on the frame when I got back

Unless you want to replace it every couple of rides it isnt worth the effort.
