I was thinking about the A/C thing and came up with this. A LED is basically a diode, meaning if the a/c power going into it is +-+-+-+-+- the led is only lighting up on the pluses. Meaning, I think, that the photo above is the light only running on 6v dc. Of course I could be completely wrong. Either way I am going to give the LED headlight a shot.

I think id rather remove the stock headlight/ number plate and install two of these. One for low, two for high. They have spot and flood so you could get one of each. http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-5-36W-LED-lig ... ae&vxp=mtr

No. AC power is on a sine wave. If you are measuring 12V AC at the headlight, that is 12V RMS. RMS is average voltage that is measured by your meter. PEAK voltage in the sine wave is going to be around 16.97 volts. That means your voltage is going from 0 to +16.97 volts to 0 to -16.97 volts in one cycle.

Say your sine wave is going at 60 hertz. That means that your LED headlight is pulsing at 30 times PER SECOND due to the LED only using the positive pulses.

Peak to peak voltage is actually 33.95 volts. But the LED only uses half of the pulses.

Remember, this is all AFTER the voltage regulator. True stator output can be much higher

Good info! I may have to ask you some questions when I get back to doing my 3 pole stator, you sound like the guy to ask.

I won't mind at all. I may not know the answers, but will help you out the best I can

Just ordered one to try on my KX500. Ive been looking for a halfway descent LED light that would run off of my 65w coil. The problem with the 500 is when Im riding in the woods at night the revs are so low that the light is dim.
