Hi all.
I have my shock apart ready for overhaul.
i see the complete list of parts from racetech used to overhaul the shock, but what are must have parts to be replaced and what are just nice to have?
what shim profile change is recommended?
is the stock spring for a 180lb rider and what is the stock spring for the 98 model?
what rated spring do i get for 215lb rider and where should i get this spring?
what would this spring be suited for (rider weight without gear)?

Well hello, Byte! Been a while since you've posted here. Getting tired of TT? lol...
There is a great spring rate calculator at Racetech, which will tell you what is recommended for your weight. I believe the stock spring is a 5.0kg. Should be good up to about 210lbs. You could replace with a 5.2, but it's probably not necessary. As for rebuild bits, I will let someone else speak up. Shock rebuild is something I have not tackled myself.

Either one will suit you just fine. If you're set on the 5.2, just look for the best deal you can find.

Terry Hay used to be a Race Tech dealer in AUS. Contact him.
I am pretty sure you need a 5.2 or so.
Just remember to have the correct rate in front too to keep it all balanced.

does the stock shim profile suffice or can it be tweaked for better performance?
