will it fit?...parts reference chart
found this on thumpertalk and I didn't think we were aware of this parts lookup so I decided to copy and paste it for our use
just too be clear, credit should go to TT member Jeekinz who put in all the grunt work to get this post here I just rewrote it with his pictures because I thought it would benefit our member more then a link
because the link came from TT I will be using a 94 KX250 footpeg as an example
so, we start of by going to http://www.KAWASAKI.com
on the left hand side we see list of links, we click on "owner information" and then "parts diagram"
this will pull up the vehicle information portal
we have 2 options of picking what bike to look for parts for, either by entering the VIN or making our way up the list of options.
we select motorcycle from the pull down window and hit "continue"
this leads us to this page
we can pull down all 4 tabs BUT we don't need to, for our example of the 94 KX 250 the year and marketing name are plenty of info
if we hit continue we get this screen
in this screen we get the info we left out of the other 2 tabs and the option to select this bike or make changes
if all our info is correct we hit "click here to select"
and this brings us to the 94 KX 250 page where we can make all sort of selections
(this is the page you want to bookmark in your favorites, here is the KDX link http://www.kawasaki.com/kawasakinew/acc ... e=KDX200H2 )
if we click on "parts diagram" here we get the actual microfiche open in a new tab
the arrow is there because we were looking for a footpeg remember ;)
this is what the foot peg diagram looks like
now that the diagram is up we must be careful not to get overexcited because the reference number, all that is is a reference, it tells you what type of part it is
the important part is the actual part number (the larger number that starts with the reference number)
if we click on the part number we get another pop up window with the info on the actual part
there are a few interesting things here, for starters there is a red S there, telling us the part is superseded
if we click on that we get the new parts number and the info that goes with it
the yellow questionmark is what we really want to know because this will tell us every vehicle Kawasaki used this part on
would you look at that, we can use a foot peg from a H model KDX

uhhhh, thank you to ThumperTalk member Jeekinz, whose hard work is what brought all that together (besides you copy and pasting). Give credit where credit is due.
That function has been there for years. Maybe not 10 years ago when it was www.buykawasaki.com.

yes, definite thanks to Jeekinz, I never intended to take credit for his work but I guess I wasn't too clear in my postingJason wrote:uhhhh, thank you to ThumperTalk member Jeekinz, whose hard work is what brought all that together (besides you copy and pasting). Give credit where credit is due.

as for the function being around, I never knew about it and I figured if I didn't know there is a good chance others don't know either, that's why I posted it here

the scroll down window goes back to 1965 and that actually pulls up about 5 or 6 bikes

Re: will it fit?...parts reference chart
diymirage, cool, thanks.
Just be sure to not use it as an end-all / be all to parts fit. It just shows what other models had the exact same part, not what other parts might work.
For example, purple fuel tank works on more than the mid-90's.

In the example above the foot peg shows as the same for 95-05 on the KDX but not the 06? Did they use a different peg in 06?

Re: will it fit?...parts reference chart
Look up the 2006 KDX200 part number:
34028-1365-458
same part, just a different color (Phantom Metallic Silver) instead of Silver No. 25
EDIT: The last 3 numbers are a Kawasaki paint code. Look at painted parts or plastic. It could be 2 letters. (6W is old lime green, for example)

Definitely not new news, been using this function for years, even mention it in several posts on here. On any part that has a paint code, as mentioned it's usually the last couple numbers.
I do think it would be a good idea to make this post a sticky in the right section as we see lots of "what year xxxxxxx wil fit my 19XX bike?"

Re: will it fit?...parts reference chart
I have used it for years as well. Unfortunately, I have also seen for years people get confused on how to use the information. People asking for help and people trying to help get confused on what they are asking and how this applies. In my experience, most people do not want to take the time to learn how to use the tool. Also, the information they want is not totally provided by the tool.
