My $200 Motorcycles!
I know theyre not kdx's but I wanted to share the bike I just bought: 1989 RM80 for $80 and a 1990 RM125 for $100. Garage kept since new, and about 25-30 hours combined usage. Pretty good deal! :) http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff5 ... /image.jpg

Re: My $200 Motorcycles!
A riding buddy from back in the day bought them new back on 89 and 90. He rode the 80 a few times and less than a year later his parents bought him the 125. We all quit riding soon after, so each bike probably has less than 20 hours on them. He wrecked the 80 once and scratched a few thing( explaining the renthal bars) but the 125 is literally a brand new 23 year old bike. I cleaned out the carb yesterday and after two slow primer kicks it started and ran like a new bike. Both bikes have corrosion on the shocks and the air filters turned to jelly, but otherwise they are pretty perfect.

I frequently rode my buddies 89 RM125 back in high school. Incredibly fun bike, as I recall.

Re: My $200 Motorcycles!
The problem I'm having is resale value. The 80 is in great shape, but I fear it's age would hurt its value. Same with the 125; it is in better shape than most 6 month old new bikes, but it is literally a 23 year old almost new bike, and it probably won't have much value if I sell it. A 125 ain't going to carry my 210 pounds around too well.

Gear it down and add weight to the flywheel, you'll be surprised how much fun that little bike will be. As far as resale, they look great, and will bring a good price from the right buyer. patience will be required.

Re: My $200 Motorcycles!
Ill probably never sell the 125, but the one lap around my yard pretty well showed how much less torque it had than my Kdx. I may try to finagle a trade of both 80 and 125 to a decent used 250 or 500 if I can find a person who wants a newer( in condition) bike. Although its cool to own the "dream bike" of my youth, I really want a 250 of some kind.

Nice! Surely you can flip those for a decent early 90's 250 MXer.

Re: My $200 Motorcycles!
After thinking about it, I'm keeping the rm AND my Kdx. I just really dig that Kdx, and I think it has more than enough power. I will eventually add usd forks, but that's for much later. The rm feels about 100 pounds lighter, so I might just ride it when I feel like flicking around on the trails(the flat ones with no big hill climbs) :)fuzzy wrote:Nice!
