Can someone tell me what bulb I can use to replace the taillight bulb on my KDX200 1996?
Is that taillight just a light, or is it a brake light too?
The old bulb says 87N 12V 10W. It also says 2AF Japan.
I went to NAPA and they gave me a 87 bulb which is fatter. It also doesn't say what wattage it is.
I searched for bulbs on the web but can't find that bulb nomenclature(87 or 2AF)
The bulb NAPA gave me fits, I just don't want to have the wrong wattage in there and do any damage.
Thanks alot.

I don't know how the electrics work on a bike with no battery.
If the bulb I put in the taillight is of a higher wattage than the old one, will that dim my headlight? Make my headlight less bright than it was before?
'cause I took it out last night with this new bulb in the back and my headlight was useless. It was on, but barely shining.

A KDX has about 35-40 watts of power. The stock head light is 30 watt so you have very little extra for a tail light. That is why some people use an LED tail light. Also keep in mind that the 35-40 watts is with some RPM's, not at an idle. Both lights will share the available power so if the tail light draws more then the head light will have less available and be dim.

There we go then. That unlabeled bulb must be a higher wattage than 10 watts.
I was wondering also...that's just a taillight right? It isn't a brake light...?

It is just a tail light.
