I really just tried to ride aroud my block today, just getting the feel for the bike....well i was riding only for about 5 mins and i pulled up into my driveway to park it....Well i do a walk around and i See what looks like Black oil sprayed/leaking out from where the muffler/silencer thing connects to the pipe(right by the rear shock)

I have pics but i dont know how to post the pics to this message! PLEASE HELP!!!
Feel free to text me and i can text you pics of what I'm seeing.....

Seeing black goo is not uncommon on a poorly jetted bike. Anyways, sounds like the rubber coupler that connects the pipe to the silencer is either loose or in need of replacement. Easy fix. I do suggest to read the following thread: http://kdxrider.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=12457. It will help get you on the right path. If you need clarification, or help with anything, just ask!

BTW, welcome to the forum and to the wonderful world of the KDX! :supz:

Welcome to the site!

Some black spooge is to be expected but a good jetting session will reduce it. Also remember that if you don't clean the inside of the pipe and repack the silencer you will still be seing the spooge after the jetting is good. Cheap oil will tend to create more then better oil also.

One more thing....I feel like when I'm in 1st and 2nd gear, that the engine isn't reving up all the way and kinda sounds like it bogs down a little....It sound like its def not reaching full capable RPMs....Seems like the power in 1st and 2nd gear isnt there....but when i get it 3rd and gun, it really hauls ass!

Even when i'm in neutral and i rev, it sounds like its not reaching full rpm.....sounds like its struggling to reach full rev

any ideas????

As the oil problem, it would relate to the sizes of the jets in the carburetor.

Clean your air filter, clean your pipe and silencer, repack your silencer, do jetting if necessary search in the net for kdx jetting guide (kdxdave). Put a new spark plug and some fresh gas+oil. This is basic maintenance and once you got everything in order you are going to be able to diagnose if something is wrong with the internals of the engine. There are no shortcuts to properly diagnose a problem.

Is it the stock spark arrestor? If so, remove the drain bolt and install a paper towel diaper  then crank it up and once warmed up, rev it some to clean it out.

As has been recommended many times on this site, GET A SERVICE MANUAL. The information found there and on this site will help you solve just about any problem you have with your KDX.

The first thing i did was get the service manual.

The black gooo is coming out where the muffler and the pipe are connected....

If you see the pattern, jetting, jetting, jetting....make sure all the bits are serviceable (pipe coupler, filter, plugs, oil) and then...you guessed it...jetting! :bravo:

Also, a compression check wouldn't hurt anything and being that it is a 17 year old bike it might be due for a top end.
