Ah gotcha yeah thats probably 85% of why I want a new cover but I do have a couple small tears in the seam up by the tank

I would like to see a picture of how the seat looks after several rides. It will probably have many purple streaks in it.

I could post a pic of my beige cargo shorts after a 3 hour ride today Not a spot on them. Check the reviews on that stuff, it is super permanent.

Lol, I cheaped out and bought 5 feet of "marine vinyl" on eBay for 16 bucks. Enough for three regular-sized seat covers. It definitely ain't "gripper" material though; just like a traditional dirt bike seat cover.

Renazco Racing builds some of the best custom seats if you don't mind spending the dough.

I got mine yesterday and it doesn't quite look like the one in that pic, theres sewing on the outside of the cover and is exposed. Im kinda worried that this will make it prone to failure quickly. And it doesn't feel like the n-style or ceet gripper seats that Ive felt, or maybe because this one is brand new and those aren't? it feels very rubbery and sticky

I was looking at a black one from same seller let me know how it turned out.

Rockymountainatv has two options of black gripper seat covers , both under 40 bucks. Going to order one for my 95.

I have the black version of that ebay cover. So far it has been great. 35/40 hrs and multiple spills and no signs of wear/tears yet. I don't know how different brand grippers feel as this is the only one I have used, but the finish hasn't changed since I installed it, very rubbery and grippy.
The stitching is exposed but hasn't had any issues.

Unless you are looking for a multi-color or fancy cover I don't see why you would get any other gripper cover.

Any chance what you are seeing is something called "top stitching" ?
Its a technique where you first place the two pieces of fabrics on top of each other with the finished sides facing each other
You sew both pieces together and then fold the top piece back over the seam, exposing both of the finished sides
You then sow the two parts together again
It is a very common practice with upholstery and gives a nice clean finished look as well as adding strenght to the seam

Take a look at the 650 bcdonyo posted, it is very obvious where the blue meets the tan section

Yeah that's what it is. I assumed he was just wondering if that exposed stitch would have durability issues over a solid piece.

sweet, Im glad to hear that. I guess Ill have an upholstery shop install the new cover sometime this week then

It's pretty easy to do yourself, all you need is a staple gun and some 8-10mm staples. Since these covers are fitted to the seat perfectly you don't really have to force or stretch it on.
