I can confirm that a 2002 KX cap and a 1999 KDX cap will interchange. HOWEVER!!!!
Notice on your KDX cap, that it has an extension down into the tank. This is to prevent splash fuel from getting up into the vent as easily. On the KX tank, this extension is built into the tank. (Making it hard to fill without spilling I might add). I've seen the KX method on most things like lawn mowers, tractors, etc. It's kind of like a filler neck only inside the tank. Just be aware that if you use a KX style cap on the KDX tank, your vent might get more than just fumes up into it. FYI
