so we were out riding today and out of nowhere the pipe cracks and completely breaks off right when it goes into the muffler. how does this just simply snap off cleanly?

it doesn't "just" happed
I bet if you check the mounting tabs you'll find both of those had the rubbers split already

that placed the entire weight of the exhaust on the muffler and it used the weakest spot as a pivot point
every time the motor shook that's where all the motion went and eventually it just snapped

I would suggest getting new mounting tabs first and then worry about fixing it or well be having this same conversation again 6 months from now

Clean the mounting tabs and use some good quality contact cement to glue them, thats how they came from factory and they will last for a long time.

is the mounting tabs you're taking about the small tabs where the muffler connects to the header?

I've used shoe goo to glue the pads together, haven't come apart after two years.
