I was just washing my bike the other day. I notice on my KLX 300, the rear wheel doesn't align with the swing arm. What I mean is that the gap between the forward part of the rear tire and the left/right side of the swing arm don't match. Left: 1.75 inches. Right 2.50 inches. Off by about 0.75 inch.

So I measured my KDX. Also don't match, but closer. Off by about 0.3 inch.

Is this normal? Are Kawasaki swing arms nonsymetrical?

By the way, the little adjustable thingies on both sides of the axle are both set to the same number.

if the adjusters are set on the same #, then all is well.

just for the fun of it, move the bike forward by about half a rotation of the rear wheel and check again
maybe the wheel is out of true ?

are you measuring at the axle, or at the tire?

I'm measuring the rim/tire.

My KLX has oversized tires, so just looking at the gap between the tire and the swingarm, it is very obvious there is a big difference. The right side of the tire is almost rubbing the swing-arm. The left side has lots of clearance.

The wheel is true. I checked both bikes.

The spacers for the rear wheel are usually two different lengths. Check that you have them on the correct side. Where the tire sits should be pretty well centered.

What year KDX? On the H and 220s both rear wheel spacers are the same size (22mm). Tire should pretty much sit in the middle of the swingarm On the KLX the chainring side spacer is the same as the KDX (22mm), but the brake side is 20mm, so you could have them backwards.
