KDX 223
Recently found a sleeved 220 wasted cylinder and head out of ebay for a cheap and decide to buy it for a big bore project. The cylinder job, the new wiseco piston and all the goodies cost less than $200. Past tuesday the job was done, the bike start at first kick and after the break-in she runs strong and with lots of torque. The only concern I have is that she barely smokes now with a 40/145 jets, is not that Im not happy with the work but any of you have done this modification? If so what are your jetting numbers.

Re: KDX 223
223 cc ?
doesn't sound like a big bore, more like a overbore? (is it 2 mm more?)
either way, I have a 200 that is bored 3 mm over and that bike runs very strong with I believe very close to the same jetting as it did before the overbore
if you followed your jetting procedures and got a good plugchop I wouldn't worry about the lack of smoke
you did remember to mix in the oil right?
come to think of it, you know what could cause that to happen ?
reinstalling the old wrist pin
(lil inside joke there)

Re: KDX 223
Cool! I know Eric Gorr used to offer that service. I want to say it had a 70mm piston??
Stock is 216cc, I think.

stock bore is 69 MM on a 220 which does indeed boil down to 216 actual cc's
all things considered, that was a good deal though, did you send the powervalves out to get machined down to match aswell ?

Re: KDX 223
Don't know for the 200 but in the 220 is not necessary to reshape the power valve for the 70mm piston but if you want to go with 71 or more then you need to reshape it.

Re: KDX 223
I went with a 3 mm overbore so I HAD to have the powervalve recut (0r installed one from a 220)Postigo wrote:Don't know for the 200 but in the 220 is not necessary to reshape the power valve for the 70mm piston but if you want to go with 71 or more then you need to reshape it.
but I wasn't sure at what point that became necessary, just that I moved passed it
so, with the overbore, replate, top end kit and machining the powervalve I spend about 440 on the last top end I did
sounds like you found a way for half the money :)
that's cool
