After KDX

Green hasn't built a KDX in almost a decade. So what are you going to do after your KDX blows up and can't find a decent one on the used market?

as seeing how people are still riding 1989 KDX's and maybe even older as their main ride, and how the KDX is one of the most bullet proof bikes ever made, I can't see them going away anytime soon :grin:

It will be harder and harder to find one that needs no/little work to be in great shape. As time goes on, it will get to where a good bit of money and time will have to be spent to get even an H model going again.

Well I'm rebuilding an "E" model for my hybrid swap. A bike is just a collection of parts. Those parts can be bought at many places. Then there is the aftermarket. I can still get almost all the motor parts. It'll be a new motor.

Considering, I still regularly both race and playride a Rickman-Zundapp and an AJS Stormer, I think I'll be fine for quite a while.

The newer 300's are pretty nice bikes. The few I have rode seem to have a KDX type power delivery, just a lot more of it.

I bought an orange 200. The suspension is so much better, although the motor is a bit too civilized and boring. The handling is still kind of funky to me. Every time I get on a jap bike I really appreciate the ergonomics.

I have a long range plan to build an RM125 or 250 / KDX or orange 200 motor.

The seats on the orange bikes do leave room for improvement. But when you have grown accustom to the lounge chair that a KDX has just about anything is out of place. :wink: That electric start is pretty cool too! As long as they keep the kicker for back up.

If somehow both of my KDX's suffered catastrophic failure, and could not be rebuilt, I would be looking at a new Gas Gas or Husqvarna 250 2T.

Id really like to try out a TM 200/300. My buddies KDX 200/300's are nice, but not quite my style. The 300 is kind of... boring? And the 200 is much too twitchy. I'm sure either one could be made to suit me, if it was mine to tune how I liked.

Yeah, I had to take the seat to an upholstery shop for some added padding and a non-grip cover

I guess one could stock pile KDX's. I don't have anymore room in the garage for bike. But I could probably fit one or two in the guess bed room. Of course, drain the fuel and oil first.

That's surprising. The orange 200 exc that I've ridden quite often has more power than my kdx220. However my 220 still needs some jetting work. But the orange bike runs like a banshee. For me I'd be going for an orange 200 if my KDX were to crap out.

Already moved on to an orange 300. KDX is the wife's ride now. If she moves on, it will probably be an orange 200, then we'll keep the KDX as the buddy bike.
