Post by kdxquebec »

Hi. Is it a good idea to use plumbing teflon tape on the air srew threads?

There is a very little gas leak from there.

thanks

Clean the threads out where the air screw turns into. I have not noticed any gas leakage from mine, but did notice it can pick-up quite a bit of crud in that area. The tape does not sound like a bad idea, but I do not like the idea of having some foreign matter any where within the carb. My 2cents

I personally wouldn't advise it. I'm not sure that teflon tape holds up to fuel (it may), but I wouldn't want pieces of it getting into the rest of my carb. I would take the air screw out, carb clean the hole good and check your air screw for damage If that doesn't work, try a new one, they're cheap!

If you do get a new one order a extended airscrew from RB, then you can adjust it with your fingers out on the trail.
