Vaccum / Pressure Test

Post by KDXGarage »

For everyone who posts on here about an engine possibly blowing it out or sucking it in, do a vacuum or pressure test. :please:

How many posts do we have on:

possible right crankcase seal leak
possible left crankcase seal blowing out premix
possible air leak

vacuum or pressure test would sure help.

Vaccum / Pressure Test

Post by rbates9 »

The trouble with doing a vacuum or pressure test is then you know that there is a problem and where it is. And once you know that you have a problem and where it is then the repair is also known. If the repair is known then there would be no reason to start a thread on what is wrong and how to fix it. :pop:

What about a sticky of the "correct" pressure and/or vaccum test procedure with the necessary tools. I would think that would be helpful to many individuals.

If you have a compression gauge you can screw it in your cylinder and hook up a air compressor hose to it, they use the same quick connect coupler. block off exhaust and carb, Put some pressure to it and see if it comes out some where

Just do a search on the net or Youtube and there are lots of tutorials for doing a "leak down test".

Vaccum / Pressure Test

Most auto parts stores have rubber frost plugs for a few bucks. I have a set that fit the reed boot and the exhaust. Then like was mentioned before you could use a compression tester fitting to add air or connect a vacuum pump to. All in all you could probably buy everything you need for less then $50. And many people already have the compression tester fittings.

Yes, I have seen plenty of homemade ones around the net. My point was, since you brought the whole vacuum/pressure test thing up, you should show one, or how to make one, on this forum, that specifically will work on our KDX's!
