Recently came across a video on youtude which someone showed expanding a DRZ250 plastic gas tank with hot water poured into the tank to soften it and then using a bicycle pump to pump air inside to expand it. the drz250 stock is 10.5L. after expansion it holds 13.5L. Amazing!..but wounldn't it weaken the gas tank as after expansion the thickness is lesser.
is it worth trying cos nobody made oversize gas tank for the E bike.

Re: Expanding gas tank.
Seems interesting but I'm pretty sure you can buy auxiliary fuel tanks if you need more capacity.
I have seen some that bolt up in place of the headlight and can carry a gallon or so.
A used KDX gas tank on eBay will run you over $100 if your plan goes wrong so I would be hesitant to mess with it.

Re: Expanding gas tank.
not something i would want to try
what ever happened to the KX500 tank discussion ?
there is a discussion here you might find interesting
http://kdxrider.net/forums/viewtopic.ph ... nk#p128348
i would be tempted to try that route rather then weakening the structural intergrity of a stocker

Re: Expanding gas tank.
i had just fix the crack by welding PE plastic onto the crack. seems to work fine. its the 2nd day with full fresh fuel in my KDX gas tank. so far not a leak. I dont know how thing will hold up.
I have also a drz250 and cant seems also to find a oversize tank for it. so thought of expanding it.
