Idle question

Post by Dekon »

Here is a little problem I have seemed to come across. When I first try to fire my bike up cold, it will start and run for like 2-3 seconds and stall. It does this three or four times in a row, then it seems to idle fine. During this time, if I blip the throttle to keep it running, it stalls also. Also, if it is not warmed up, it has a slight bog off the bottom. Once warmed up it starts, idles, and runs fine. I have rejetted it and it rips when it is warmed up. Should I adjust anything or leave it as it is?

That is the nature of a cold bike! Sounds completely normal to me. BTW, are you using the choke?

Yes, using the choke. Sorry I forgot to mention that important piece of information.

Oh, I don't mind waiting a few, just was wondering since the CR250 I had, once it was started it would never die like the KDX does. I was just wondering.

Try without the choke at all and see if there's a difference. Hold throttle cracked a hair and kick it without choke. Bet it'll stay running.

When mine is cold the choke needs to be turned off as soon as the bike starts to get it to idle.
