Good day all<
New to the forum - living in Uganda.
I am in the process of buying a KDX200 and am having difficulty determining what year it is with the KIPS motor
The VIN# is 12 digits - where as all site reference 17 digits
DX200G-024182
If i use G it is 1986
if i use 1 it is 2001
VIN # - 10 Digit

Re: VIN # - 10 Digit
It is not a VIN, but a frame number. In the USA and a few other places, it is 17 digits. In some other countries, such as UK, it is a frame number.
What you need is the "Kawasaki Model Identification Guide". It will have some frame number info in it.

Thanks Jason,
found a good site using "Kawasaki Model Identification Guide" - http://www.ventura-bike.com/media/files/ModelGuide.pdf
That said - to me it does not make sence - using my 12 digit frame number (DX200G-024182) the 10th digit is 1 - smack in the middle of the production number - is that right?
Is there perhaps a range of letters /numbers (5) that may not have been stamped on the frame at the begining of the frame number - this bike is dirrect from Japan

Stop looking for ANYTHING to do with a VIN. That bike DOES NOT have one. It has a frame number.
Does your bike look like either the first one or the second one??

It looks like the 1st one - withouth the blue forks
There is a 2nd bend in the pipe (seen on the 2nd photo not the 1st) - could be the angle of the shot
The motor is KIPS

Re: VIN # - 10 Digit
In the USA, we only had the "E" version, from 1989-1994, which was an off-road only version.
Does your bike have the street related parts?

Thanks Jason,
some good info there.
have found the details i was looking for on http://www.kawasaki-motors.com/mc/
is a SR - 1991 - Guess that makes it an E series.
Plastics are a bit of a baffle - because the guys in UK and US can confirm which model they should supplying for. as with the fork seals.
will start the strip down this weekend and go from there - have secured a donor bike (or part of one) so hopefully will have most of what i need for starters and then send the older samples out for matching.
