HOW DO I SET the timing on my kdx 200 ik theres dots that you line up but I want to be sure help me step by step please will be vary apercated ik I should get a book but I don't got time to order one or evan the money im 14 im going to look it up some more on google

also im kind into doing it and the cover right above the exhaust when I tighten the 2 bolts down the rod wont move I don't know how to im going to order a book didn't want to but I guess I am HELP Im trying to get the jug on tonight also are the power valves or what ever suspose to be open when the rod is out or are they suspose to be closed when it is out and the top thing lol don't no what it is called but there the 2 valve things on the side then the thing up top is the suspose to be fully closed or fully open because ether way I push the rod there still a gap help me out best you can because half this probly don't make sense

no help here kiddo since mine is a 99 model and those are slightly different

it will still cost you 26.95 but it is probably your best bet

in the mean time, watch some youtube vids, there is bound to be something usefull up there

Sorry you didn't find all the info you need for free.

If you look back thru most all of the threads you will find that buying a manual is the fist thing anyone recommends. Especially for the routine stuff.

but my prolum is right now you see the to bolts when I snug them down it doesn't let the rod mover I know what the problem is theres a silver cleve that keeps the middle shaft in place an its pushing against the gear

Trying to decipher the english it sounds like you have something not assembled correctly. As far as the manual and free info goes, you'll get plenty of it, but like all things in life, you get a better response from people when you do your homework first instead of begging for someone to hold your hand through it. For much of this work a manual is suggested, not because we are trying to sell manuals, but because there are things that can be missed or misquoted in postings, and the manual is the source of that info. Like I said in a earlier post I have a 250 and it has a totally different kips set up. You guys have it easy, when I have to mess with my kips its on the bottom of the cylinder. 250 manual is part 200 part 250 specific. i would follow the directions in the manual word for word , it all has to be done in order. That page is all the help I can give ya. Good luck.

lets not be too rough on the kid
i remember being his age and wrenching on my own, without the internet to connect me to more knowledgeable people and it could be very frustrating

lets try not to discourage him too much, he is trying to learn how to take care of his own stuff properly and isn't to proud to ask others for advice

I wasn't saying I was trying to get it for free I was saying that there weren't quick replies but it was Sunday and mothers day witch I rembered after it was said and I didn't want to buy the book is because im poor haha im only 14 i don't got a job i sell stuff on craigslist to get all this im into the bike for 800 bucks i bought it for 500 and guy said it needed rings i new it didn't but ehhhhhhhhhhh its ok i guess haha but my parents wont give me then money unless i pay them back so i try not to ask them because im not a kid that gets everything handed to them i started with a riding lawnmower and worked from there and i got pretty far im going to tare down my Honda ody fl350 this winter.. I work on all my stuff I got 2 350xs and a 200x and race a rm135 I built the atcs ground up so I got a idea how to do all this stuff bu this kips stuff is got me all confused i been trying to rread up on it but ill get thru it some how ill let you guys know what goes on when i get the book i hope when i get it back together the trans is junk or the bottomed

i might have one
and this i learned on my 96 so it might not even apply
but in the picture that RodAdams posted you see where both the valves have timing marks that need to line up with the gear shaft
when i did mine i found out you can lift the valves to somehwat hoover over the gear until it lines up
once it all lines up you jus let go off the gear and it falls right into place

the picture that is posted is obviously different from mine but it looks like at least the one on the left hand of the pic might be isntalled that way

yeah i can do that but when i put the cover on right above the pipe hole i guess you will call it i tighten that down and the rod wont move back and forth and i think my machinist took it out and didn't put it back in right how do you get that rod out ? maybe ill go back thru it and do it from the book

if it doesnt seem right tear it apart and do it by the book
like i mentioned, mine is a 96 so its different but thats what i would do
