Anyone mount an iPhone to their bars?

Post by iregret »

I recently started mapping where I've been riding. At first, I was going to buy a trailtech but then I found a pretty nifty iPhone app.

Check it out:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/maps-3d ... 04000?mt=8

It works surprisingly well. You can cache the riding area.

So I've been keeping my phone running in my pocket. That's been working pretty well, except when I need to stop and look at the map. I'm I'm just riding around tracking everything, it's fine. Navigating back to the truck sucks. Stopping at every Y, taking my glove off, unzipping my pocket, get iPhone, look at map, then put it all back.

What I'd like is a mount that I could put the phone in, but don't have to remove the case. Maybe even with a stylus so I don't have to remove my gloves. If I could power the phone, even better!

Well, I've had every single version of the iPhone. That means I have an iPhone 4S that's just sitting on the shelf. I'm thinking I could dedicate it to the cause. It won't need cell reception if I cache the maps.

Perhaps something like this would work?
