Spanner wrench for rear shock

Post by Tyl3r »

What spanner wrench are you guys using to adjust your stock rear H-series shock? I was using the screw driver and hammer method to adjust, but am getting tired of marking up the adjuster and lock nut and would like a spanner wrench for it.

I saw this one on rocky mountain:

The reviews seem like it works for some and not for others. I wanted to make sure the one I order will work. Anyone using this one?

Thanks!

The problem is having room to use it. Get a brass drift.

I have the Kawasaki factory tools, and there is no way to get them into the frame/shock area. They are just good for use when the shock is off the bike.

Spanner wrench for rear shock

If a brass drift is too hard to come by you can try a hard wood dowel from the hardware store. It will be expendable but won't hurt the nut. I have some spanner wrenches and they can't get into the shock area enough to do anything but piss you off.

Usually you can loosen the top locking one and spin the spring to turn the lower one. You have to get the weight off the rear wheel and spray just a touch of lube on the threads.
