Identify kdx's year of production
Hi,
Currently I need to buy some new parts for the bottom end of my bike. But upon reading I think the 95 - 2004 KDX 220 have some difference parts compare to the older ones. I need to change the clutch basket, clutch pates e.t.c
So does anyone know how to identify the bike's production date, or if anyone can tell me the the wiseco clutch basket (WPP3058) will fits to the older KDX ( < 1995) also?
Thanks and please forgive me for my bad English

I'm living in Vietnam, and the previous owner did some mods on the bike :) But he also doesn't know what year it is
Best regards,

If you can still read the VIN, the 10th digit is the year.

Re: Identify kdx's year of production
96 and up only saw cosmetic changes, mechanically it is all the same
this generation was call the H series
from the looks of it, yours is an H series bike
the only difference in all the H series would be the differences in 200 and 220 and that (correct me is im wrong) is only in the top end of the bike
on a different note, it looks like your coolant overflow reservoir isnt installed properly
the whole thing should be on the right hand side of the bike but in the last picture you can see it peeking out on the left hand side of the engine
i would see if i could fix that

Hi, thanks for your answer, so this made me quite happy since I think I can try order the clutch basket soon.diymirage wrote:96 and up only saw cosmetic changes, mechanically it is all the same

About the reservoir, it's not the coolant reservoir, in fact it's the addition 2T oil tank. The coolant reservoir is actually on the right side :)

Looks like the oil pump housing is cast into the center case. Is that correct? I wish I could retrofit oil injection onto a 200 E. Pretty sure we've been through this before, but I've slept since then!

In the US that would be between a 1997 and a 2005. I think I read somewhere that the 220 was released earlier in other countrys. Maybe 94? But the exact year shouldn't matter that much because (in the US) they didn't make any changes to the bike mechanically so the parts should fit for all years. And other then top end parts and rear chain guide the 200 was the same also.

Re: Identify kdx's year of production
cool beans on the oil injection
that is the ONE thing i miss on my KDX
you could try to have a look at the frame where the VIN SHOULD be
it is obvious that that parts has been painted over but you may be able to find the numbers by placing a piece of paper over it and rubbing the side of a pencil over it

Yeah, I think I will go ahead and grab the wiseco parts. May be complete top end rebuild also, as I also have something broken there.rbates9 wrote:In the US that would be between a 1997 and a 2005. Re: Identify kdx's year of production
Hi, the problem here is it had been replaced with another vin so it can have a "legal registration". As for the oil injection, I like premix more :( but sometimes it comes in handydiymirage wrote:cool beans on the oil injection

not something i would want to advertise
last thing i can think of is checking to see if there is a number stamped on the engine but then you would just tell me its not the origenal engine iether
i guess it doesnt make that much of a difference really, the only changes kawasaki made to these bikes are in outward appearances and i think that you got that part covered ;)

Re: Identify kdx's year of production
I don't want to admit but you're right ;) in my country there are bunch of laws and rules that make rider can't ride even a scooter. I will go ahead and order the parts, will update a video of my bike after the rebuild alsodiymirage wrote:daibosatsu_tooge wrote: Hi, the problem here is it had been replaced with another vin so it can have a "legal registration".
