Refreshing 05 220 top end
Not a question really but I tore down the top end of my 05 kdx220. The 8 yr. old bike had the original piston/rings. The cylinder seemed a bit more scratched up than expected. The piston/rings were worn. Decided i'd ship it to Langcourt for a re-plating and wiseco piston fitting. It went out via UPS today. Next up is opening up the airbox, attaching a pro circuit platinum pipe, carb jetting. I welcome any suggestions. Thanks for listening. That is all.

yep, you went with a very good facility to replate the cylinder, you bought quality parts to put in there AND they will mate the two for perfect fit
presuming you are ordering a wiseco top end kit and not just the piston it sounds to me like you got all your duckies in a row
as for the power adders you mentioned, the only thing i can think of that is missing from the list is a set of reeds
this will by far be the best time to install them but it is such a simple procedure it doesnt matter when you do it
on a side note...8 years on the stock grendade ?

My 97' 220 was on the original piston for 15 years until I replaced it this winter along with reeds. There wasn't even any scoring on the cylinder wall.
guess I got really lucky.

My 95 KDX 200 was serviced just once in 17 years. And that was 9 years ago. When people where I live say that 2 strokes are harder to maintain than 4 strokes I always say they never owned a KDX.

Yes, it's a wiseco complete top end. I forgot to add that I already have the boyesen power reeds to install and am going to drill two 1" holes in the top of the airbox. I'm running a "no toil" filter.

I did the same to my 220 when I first got it. While the cylinder was out for a replate, I sent the carb and head to RB for him to work his magic. The bike is like brand new now and it rips!
