Looking to install a new wiseco piston in a 220 ,what should the ring gap be and are the upper and lower the same ? They are saying .004 per inch of bore. Thanks

Hello, Steve. Welcome to KDXRIDER! If you're doing work on the bike yourself, I highly recommend a service manual. We have a link to the cyclepedia version on our homepage which is subscription based. A one year subscription is all you'd need, and just make sure you've printed the entire manual before your subscription runs out. Factory service manual is fine as well, which can be purchased through Kawasaki. Either one will answer this, as well as the many other questions you will need answers to, such as torque specs, cylinder to piston clearance, KIPS timing, etc. In the meantime, I am at work currently and do not have access to my manuals. When I get home I can check and post up the ring gap specs for you if nobody has already gotten it by then.

If you already have a service manual, no reason to jump for the cyclepedia version. The best thing about it is the detailed color photos.

Piston/Cylinder Service Specs KDX220

Cylinder service limit: No more than 69.1mm
Piston-cylinder clearance: .095-.105mm
Piston diameter: No less than 68.8mm
Ring to Groove Clearance (Top and bottom): No more than .18mm
Ring End Gap (Top and bottom): .3mm to .5mm, service limit .8mm
