I've always used hondabond. Didn't know there were various formulas of yamabond. Maybe someone knows, but you should be able to find something in the product description that says it's for sealing case halves.

I like loc tight gel seal. I'm not much on waiting over night for others to dry.

I used Yamabond 5 and ended up with an internal leak about 600 miles after the rebuild. I was going to try Permatex Ultra Grey or the Hondabond 4 this time but then I remembered a couple years ago I rebuilt my Ski-Doo 583 Twin and used Permatex Anerobic (flexible) gasket maker which required a primer before application. Is there any reason I couldn't use that on My KDX as well?
My manual just says use kawi part# blah blah but doesn't specify wether or not it is a non hardening sealer.

If I remember right, Yamabond 4 is a flexible, non-hardening silicone, whereas Yamabond 5 is more like contact adhesive, which is probably what lead to a leak developing. You want the non-hardening type.

The lock rite gel seal is an anaerobic sealer and works good and dries instantly. Gm make a anaerobic gasket maker as well,it can be bought at any gm dealer.

loctite is who makes a lot of the anaerobic sealers for different brands. 515 is the part number for the regular flex. The primer is good to use but it is more to speed the curing time. I know of several applications that recommend not using the primer because the part can't be assembled quick enough and it will start to set too soon.

Just for kicks I called the local Kawasaki dealer to ask if they had the Kawabond #5 in stock. They said they used a pematex "Form a Gasket HT" and they don't use factory suggested sealers.
