Re: Would you trust this crank?86 200
Since you already have the connecting rod kit, use it. As best I remember, 1986 crankshaft is not exactly the same as 1987 and 1988 as far as OEM goes. Look on Kawasaki.com under Owner Info / Parts Diagrams to see part numbers. I assume your connecting rod kit would work with all 3, but all 3 might not work with your 1986 engine.
You ARE sure it is 1986, right??
EDIT: Nevermind. I saw your 1986 thread link in your signature. I see the seat and decals.

You could always go the Ebay route. I just recently completed a 1987 rebuild and I understand how pricey it can get.

Re: Would you trust this crank?86 200
The third picture (the transmission end of the crank) looks like it has a rust mark about where the seal will ride. It might be saveable. Might not. I would ask the seller for a better picture of the spot in question. If they aren't willing to get a better picture there might be an issue.

Re: Would you trust this crank?86 200
It's hard to tell for sure if that is rust or something that might just wipe off. I also don't know exactly where the seal rides but from the pic it doesn't appear that the seal rides where the dark spot is. Maybe the seller could answer the question or send better pics. For that matter maybe there's a better one for sale but this one looks pretty good and the price is right if it is usable. It would save a lot of time and money.

A little off topic but I just came across this for the KDX, http://www.oem-cycle.com/KAWASAKIKDX200BIKEID.shtml
There are several really nice looking cranks on ebay, here's a few:

I wasn't saying that the crank isn't worth looking into, just that there is a mark that didn't look right. To me, if the mark would wipe off they would have wiped it off. Again, it's defiantly worth looking into and the price looks great.Goofaroo wrote:It's hard to tell for sure if that is rust or something that might just wipe off. The first link looks like a great reference! Nice find!Roadhazardguy wrote:A little off topic but I just came across this for the KDX, http://www.oem-cycle.com/KAWASAKIKDX200BIKEID.shtml

The first ebay link, the threads look funny. Like they might be pulled a bit.
The second ebay link, is the same as the crank listed a few post above.
The third ebay link, looks a little rough in the seal area on the flywheel side. Might sand out fine tho.
The fourth ebay link, looks to be not too bad.
Just MHO take it for what it is. I would just hate to buy a crank that has issues to replace a crank that has issues.

The one with that mark is gone,DRAT!Will this fit? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1989-Kawasaki-KD ... d2&vxp=mtr in Canada so I'd save at least $30 shipping.BTW the rod kit I have is good for 86-06.

Yes but is there a difference between a 89 and the 86-8 cranks?

Re: Would you trust this crank?86 200
You know, I've searched and searched for that post where I (thought) I saw someone say they will interchange but I just can't seem to find any mention of it. Maybe I'm just crazy???

Re: Would you trust this crank?86 200
Looking at the pictures, I would say it's very unlikely that they would interchange; they look pretty different in proportion, construction style, and flywheel mount (the end on the E-series is threaded, not tapped). But I've got an E series crank here and could take some measurement, if necessary for comparison purposes.
