Any tips on getting this out prior to a replate job?

93 Valve Guide Removal

Post by Antler92 »

Figured it out. It is the valve that holds the rod in for the kips valves. I removed the pan screw, but because it was sort of "gooped-up" it didn't just pull out (which it did once I started to apply some heat to get the studs out for a re-plate job). Thought maybe it was somehow screwed in. It appeared to me that there were threads from the parts diagram. Thanks for the welcome.

Aha, I should have guessed that was what you meant. The guide bushing for the main shaft, yes? I drew a total blank on valve guide. Got me thinking about replacing valve guides in a 4 stroke. Glad you got it worked out! Getting the valves in/out can be somewhat of a pain if you don't have a manual....

Who's doing your re-plate?
