Keihin Pwk jetting

Post by Trails Boy »

Ive got a 87 kdx with a Keihin Pwk in it (HUUUUUGE difference when coming from that old Mikuni!!). Runs fine as it is mid to high range is nice and smooth but the transition from low to mid is
a little more boggy then I would like. I was just thinking of going to a smaller pilot.. Is this correct or do i need to go bigger? Its currently running with the idle screw at 5 turns out and the air screw 1 1/4 turns out. It also has Boyesen power reeds.

Elevation: approx 450 to 550 above sea level (Dallas Texas)

Current jetting: 155 main 45 pilot

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

If it bogs it is lean, if it blubbers it is rich.

I'd start at the beginning (follow the Jetting guide here http://kdxrider.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=105&t=1156). That will let you know whether you need to change your pilot jet to get started. Jetting is one of those processes that takes time and patience, both of which I usually am lacking lol.
