Just got home from riding this bike. I want it. He's asking $1600.. It has the OEM piston and needs a new rear tire. He's obviously very proud of his KDX. The bike is super clean, and started in one kick. He seems pretty firm on price. I figure I'd pull the top end off, and have RB modify the head, as long as I'm in there replacing the piston anyhow. The carb is brand new but it's a Keihin which I know zero about. I don't see them talked about on here, so I dunno.... I rode it up and down the block. Went through all the gears. Nice smooth power, and ran great.

Is this bike worth $1600 as it sets? I can't believe I had the self control not to just buy it on the spot. But I am at the tippy top of my budget, and this was supposed to be a part by part build. I'd like to go buy it if it's a good investment. Just don't want to throw away money.

specially this time a year that seemed like a bit steep price anyway

Thank you. I will have one within the month. If nothing else, I confirmed that I want to purchase a KDX. You bad it wasn't that particular bike, but I'm trying to enjoy the search process.

You'll find one cheaper than that.

Going to look at an 04 200 that isn't far up the mountain from me tomorrow. This bike appears really clean, but is completely stock with zero mods.

I'll report what happens tomorrow evening.

some people would tell you to get a modded KDX because its the best bang for the buck

others might tell you to avoid them like the plague because they have been ridden hard and put away wet

whilest other yet will tell you to proceed with caution since certain mods (especially suspension) may not even be an improvement over stock for you since a lot of that has to do with weight

Bolt on extras are a good thing. Like a pipe, skid plate, guards, ect. They can be easily removed if it is not what your looking for. I would avoid engine work because you don't know for sure what was done and if it was done right. And many "upgrades" paired with other "upgrades" end up being a step back. Just my .02.

I like the stock one. I found the gnarly pipe(woods) and power core exhaust for $300 on Rocky mountain atv. If I get a really fair price on the stock bike I can possibly afford to add those on prior to the start of the season.

On a side note, those should bolt right on? A nudge such as myself should be able to handle that install on his own?

Thank you all for the replys.

power core isn't a spark arrestor most area's require one.

other the weight reduction most aftermarket silencers do not have a notable improvement over stock (as in no power gains)
and yes, they should bolt on rather easy

Personally I would start out with a skid plate before a pipe. Might be just me but I would rather ride a corked up bike then push a bike with a shiny pipe and a hole in the case.

I got one! I'll start a thread. I'll do it in the introductions section, so as to properly introduce Maude. (Lebowski fans will know who she is)
