ya guys, i just recently picked up a 92 kdx250 d2. i really like it. now im looking to pickup another kdx but a 200. its a 91. so in you alls opinion, was it a good bike? it has non USD forks, were they pretty good? i havent gone to see it yet. the pics dont show any mods/ pipe and such. just looking for some good solid info. it being older doesnt bother me cause i have a great salvage yard close by for upgradable suspension components. i've just never owned green till lastweek. lastly, im planin on running HS on it will it be competitive enough?

'89-'94 E-series bikes are considered by quite a few to be the best years of the KDX200. The only weak link compared to later 200's is the KIPS valves. Some seem to have problems with them while others don't.

Some seem to chew the soft aluminum gear teeth off. It seems to only affect some bikes. I assume it probably has to do with variances between different cylinder castings. Mine has been trouble free for 3+ years while others do every bit of maintenance possible on the KIPS and still have problems.

Love my E bike. I have plenty of seat time on E and H series 200's, the E has better low end grunt, plenty of overrev, and a much more comfy seat. The H does turn a bit better, but that's not too hard to overcome. I have had to replace the aluminum subvalves every 1-2 years, despite proper cleaning and lubrication. No big deal until the parts are no longer available.
