Try a new set of the rubber cones. Or try a set of Honda bar mount cones. They are stiffer and hold up well. But still cut down on the vibration. If you are having issues with the cones then they are worn out or the bike spends too much time on it's side.

Do a search for Honda cones and you should find the part number I used. Solid bar mounts will cause more vibration and be more likely to bend bars. I would stick with some sort of isolators other then metal.

The Honda cones are a much stiffer then Kawasaki cone. They might be some type of poly. They are cheap to try too.

metal bar mount replacement

Here's a good deal on a one piece bar mount that I found. Its a pretty good deal so I just wanted to share it with my fellow KDX rider.

$10 for the bar mount and you can call and ask for $6 usps flat rate shipping. They said they have them in 7/8" and 1 1/8".

The rubber mounts on the KDX work well when new, they should be replaced every season. The weak link isn't the rubber isolators but the the independent top caps. Get a one piece cap like that listed above, or the fredette one. Stiffens up the bar mounts, helps eliminate the dreaded bar twist.

Before I replaced my rubber cones for billet items I made my own top clamp support out of 4mm alloy plate shaped to suit, all I did was replace the handlebar bolts for longer items & job done...buy some plate & make your own.

I bought some of the poly sway bar bushings down at Oreilly's then just took them to the disc sander and made them the shape I needed them. They even came with new metal caps that were identical to the ones I took off the the bike, been working great ever since.

Bump....Does this work with the kdx? Is it a universal top mount? It's not listed for the KDX.

Do a little googling around and one thread on another forum suggested the KX designed bar will fit the KDX. http://dirtrider.net/forums3/threads/20 ... amp.59771/

That's a good price. FRP also has one, and found some others on ebay.

QUESTION: What Honda model(s) have comparable cone mounts?

2003 KDX 220. RB Carb & Head Mods. Desert pipe. She's a runner!
2006 KLX 250 w/351 big bore. A well-sorted dual sporter.
2006 KLR 650. Mostly stock.
2014 Suzuki DL1000.

It's the CR 250, last few years for sure. You're just using the cones, right?

These one-piece mounts are still available for $10. I trimmed about 1/8 inch off each side so the Rox risers fit better. New OEM cones and washer caps installed too.
