Should I be worried about the little scuff marks on the cylinder head? I dont think they will hurt anything but wanted to check. Thanks

I would run it that way. Just take a good close look at the dings and see if any of them look like they could break off. If you wanted to do something about it with out replacing the head then you could send it to RB and he could probably get rid of most if not all of the dings with his head mod.

Wow how did you get it so clean?
And yea, I'd run that head too. Like Rbates said just make sure nothing looks brittle and ready to chip.

That looks great. I was going to do that to my head and bottom end when I had the cylinder replated so everything would match but I never got around to it.
After the first mud ride everything matched though

How did the combustion chamber get so pitted?

wondering myself about the pitting, mine always look to be almost polished when they are clean.

That pitting is the sign of a piston giving up and mashing it's bits into the head.

Looks like corrosion to me.

Definitely looks like the result of debris between the cylinder and head. Either piston bits, or lower end bearing pieces. Also looks like its been media blasted since whatever failure caused the damage.

This is why the head looks like that! I am having to do a complete ground up on the bike. The previous owner or owners were idiots.

Wow! Did they run it without the oil?

Ouch. That's worse than my piston when I bought my bike.

And the cylinder wasn't pretty either.

Replated cylinder, fresh piston, and rebuilt bottom end (just to make sure) and everything has been running strong since (fingers crossed).

Maybe I am worrying about nothing but I hope it doesn't cause hotspots?
If I could find another personally I'd use it...

Although it will probably run fine, those pits look like a really good excuse to have the head modified. No pressure, just sayin...

Who would you guys send it to? What benefits would modifing have?

Ron Black is who most of us would use for head mods. Doesn't make a huge difference on the 200, but it is worth the price.

See our RB section for more info on the results.
