KDX 200 gasket question
Instead of ordering a complete gasket kit for the motor, can you use a liquid gasket?

KDX 200 gasket question
The gaskets can be replaced with a liquid gasket but keep in mind that the complete gasket set is about $80 or less and that will come with all of the gaskets and seals including the kips seals. The gaskets on the right side of the engine like the side cover and the clutch cover also act as shims to keep the clutch actuator in the correct position so you could possibly run into issues with the clutch if you use a liquid sealant. If you do end up using a liquid sealant I would recommend an anaerobic sealant like Loctite 515. These types of sealants set by a lack of oxygen so what ever gets pushed into the engine will not set up and fall off possibly plugging up a passage or getting into a bearing.

Re: KDX 200 gasket question
If there will be possible issue with the correct spacing, I will just order the correct gaskets. Have any of you guys made your own gaskets or is it not worth the trouble?

Re: KDX 200 gasket question
I've made my own in lots of times. Generally situations where I wanted to have something together right now, or just can't find the right one. It's a pain in the butt, but you do it sometimes..
If it's something like a dirtbike engine build where I am getting parts anyway, the gasket sets from companies like Cometic and Athena are only marginally more expensive than several sheets of gasket material. I think the last one I bought was like $50 and came with a complete engine set.

Re: KDX 200 gasket question
I have found a complete Athena gasket kit for 97-05 KDX220 at a great price. Will this also fit a KDX200 of the same years?

Nosir, the head gasket is different. The rest should work.
