I have a general question....

Post by canyncarvr »

Now, I've only bought about three of these...but I never can remember what a Pro-X piston comes with:

Clips
Pin

...but not rings and small-end bearing...right?

Sorry....I am (or have become) a 'Would you trust anyone with a KIPS subport valve that looks like that???' sort. I don't trust myself, and I'd just as soon order all the parts I need at the same time.

Tanks!

Piston kit consists of piston, piston rings, piston pin and circlips.

Yep..that's what Pro-X says:

ProX Racing Parts for KAWASAKI KDX 200 2000
Choose other make or model/year.

PROX partno. :
Piston Kit*: 01.4285 Oversizes**
Piston Ring Set: 02.4285 Oversizes**
Piston Pin: 04.1653
Circlips: 05.1612C
* Piston kit consists of piston, piston rings, piston pin and circlips.
** For oversize pistons / piston rings click on the link.

But I don't think a 13001-1317 consists of all that stuff. That's part of why I am cornfused about it....

There is no OEM piston kit. It is just the piston. The ones I have bought came in a yellow, red and blue box.

Who said anything about an OEM kit? Or are you just saying that in passing?

I have a spare OEM Piston and rings (separately packaged)

What I put in my bike was a Pro-X Kit.

canyncarvr mentioned an OEM part number and...

"But I don't think a 13001-1317 consists of all that stuff. That's part of why I am cornfused about it...."

That is why I commented on OEM parts.

OEM places (RonAyers) do not show a 'kit'. Than number is off the microfiche.

As noted, PRO-X does LIST a 'kit'. But...their 'kit' doesn't reference a,b,c,d etc.

See? I'm cornfused for at least SOME reason...maybe not a particularly good one.

BTW...Wiseco stuff isn't pertinent to this question. The Wiseco DOES come with rings, clips, pin and bearing.

If there is a piston 'kit' it seems like Kawi should offer it. They don't note it as an 'assembly' including all the 'stuff'.

So, a PRO-X dealer has 'the kit'? Any time I've ordered PRO-X before (three different outfits), I've had to order the parts separately. But the PRO-X site LISTS a kit..(again, no alpha designations).

The PRO-X website is in the Netherlands for crine out loud. RockyMtn doesn't sell PRO-X..ProLite, but not PRO-X.

I want it to be easy. I want to get on the web and order an alpha 'kit' of PRO-X manufacture..and I want it to cost LESS than an OEM piston from the OEM people!

See? I'm easy!!

There is no OEM piston kit.
It would be nice if they offered one for various KDX's, but they do not.

Here's an "easy" option. Try Dennis Kirk.

I think that place has their OEM piston part number information wrong.

Here are the KDX200 OEM piston part numbers:

The 1983 - 1985 piston is 13001-1160.
The 1986 piston is 13001-1219.
The 1987 - 1988 piston is 13001-1256.
The 1989 piston is 13001-1295.
The 1990 - 2006 is 13001-1317.

As far as letters, I just see B, C and D. The price is $87.95 US. That's cheap!
