Ride Update/Replacement Bars for an '01 220R

Post by Toms220r »

I picked up my '01 KDX220r in late August and finally got it woods-ready...Took it out for the first time last Sunday and had a total blast on it!! Much different than my 250x...gotta get used to no engine braking.

I was riding some awesome single track here in the Northeast with some C/B level guys, getting more and more comfortable and was picking up the pace. The more I rode the bigger my grin. This bike is awesome! So I'm hammering through the woods and this tree jumped out in front of me! WTF...End result was a slightly bruised ego and some bent bars.

It came with Renthal K971's, which is OEM on the '12 KX250. I need to replace them so my question is - With what?? Same bars? They felt pretty comfortable but I only have about 5 hours of saddle time so my opinion is limited.

Any suggestions on a replacement would be welcomed...!

I put some cheap bars on my '97 220 that are supposed to be 'cr high' style, very similar to stock bars, I think they are FLY aluminum bars. Have held up decent, close to a season of hare scrambles and only slightly bent.

I went YZ High bend on mine. Seem to be working out well IMO.
