Master Link Rubbing Chain Guide

Post by RailwayRog »

Replaced my non O ring chain with an O ring chain, now the master link is tight fitting through the chain guide.
I realize it will wear a groove through the plastic.
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and is this something that can be corrected or it's nothing to worry about?

The KDX came with a non o-ring stock, so the stock chain guide is too narrow. You'll need an FRP or 220 chain guide, or use some washers to add some space inside the stock one.

The 200 and the 220 list the same part numbers for all of the chain guide parts. Some O ring chains are just wider than others.

Cheap fix, add some washers to space so the opening is a bit larger. Best fix, get the Fredette chain guide!

It might be worth a look at the engine case behind the sprocket to see if it is rubbing too bad there.
