KDX200 running rich

Post by sterlin44 »

I have a 96 kdx200. It smokes a good bit, and doesn't want to rev out in 1st or 2nd. Once you get up into 3rd and 4th it has tons of power and will rev all the way out. I checked the carb and it's clean, has a 155 main and 45 pilot. It doesn't want to idle either and the air screw doesn't seem to do much. I was going to change the spark plug but the seat bolt is stripped

On my 97 220, I don't have to remove the seat to change plugs, you should have to either.

155/45 is a pretty good starting point. If it's that bad with the idle and such, sounds like you've got a clogged up carb. Disassemble, clean jets and passages.
