Oil Injector, where can I get one?

Post by terminatr »

So...some foreign KDX came with oil injector. The "SR" model, right?

Can I add this to my 220? I'm dualsporting my bike and having to mix oil at the gas
station is turning out to be a major proverbial pain in the rear end.

i know your pain, i came from a DT that had oil injection
id fill he oil reservoir and ride for months before i needed to refill it
now i keep a few bottles of oil in the fenderbag with enough oil to due a full tank
i end up running a hair rich on oil pretty often but it works for me
and by putting the oil in before the gas the gas will mix it plenty

but if you do find one i would love to hear how it works out

I'm guessing you'd need to look for a set of 200SR engine cases.

Yep. There is a lot more to it than just adding an injector. Gear drive, oil pump, line, and injector. All oil injection pumps I have ever seen use a gear driven pump and that drive is an integral part of the bottom end assembly. You can't just bolt one on. If you really want to do it you are going to be doing some serious engineering of your own to make something work but it won't be anything like the factory oil injection.

The easiest way I can see doing this would be to use a oil pump of a 650 or 750 Kawasaki jet ski which bolts to the flywheel cover and drives off a groove cut in the flywheel bolt. You would have to cut a groove in your flywheel bolt then make a flywheel cover out of aluminum for the pump to bolt to (and probably a small cover for the pump) then run your oil injection line to a fitting you've installed after the carb slide or down around the reeds somewhere. Then you would probably have to fine tune how much oil you are pumping in with different size restrictiors in line. I myself don't like oil injection on anything but if you are going to do this I would start off with a brand new pump.
