Air Filter Seams Split

The air filter seams separated, is this a common occurrence on the oem filters?
I use mineral spirits and simple green to clean filter, never had a problem on other air filters.

I've never heard of this. If the filter is many years old, then I would just chalk it up to wearing out.

It happens. I washed an old one in Oxy-clean with hot water and it came apart completely.
Washing gently seems to help.

Petrol and thinners can eat into glues. If getting another one is slow, they can be fixed with contact adhesive used to repair shoes.
