wants a quieter exhaust
Hello i bought an 05 kdx 220r,its got a pro circuit pipe and muffler. my question is who makes a nice quiet exhaust system for this bike. i did not get the stock exhaust system when i bought this bike.i would like to turn it back into a kdx instead of a loud reving kx,why do people strip them down and make them into a bike that they are not.

Re: wants a quieter exhaust
Your best bet would be to try and swap the muffler for a stock unit
Other then the weight loss the PC muffler holds no real gain over the stock unit anyway
You do want to keep the expansion chamber though, it really wakes the bike up

Re: wants a quieter exhaust
Repacking the PC silencer should quiet it down considerably.
The stock expansion chamber is double wall and really quiet but you pay a lot in performance. You could try one and see if you like it.

I switched back to stock. And I don't think it's all that much quieter. But it's definitely much less obnoxious.

The stock silencer is a bit quieter, but the difference will not be perceptible until you get away from the bike, IMO.

Wanna sell the pipe? I wonder if it will work ok with a fmf silencer that I already have cuz that's not too loud at all. Maybe someone else can chime in.

I confirmed that it will work. Contact me on here or at ehyvari@yahoo.com if you are interested in selling it, send a pic please. There is a stock set up for sale on here and a few of em on ebay.

I had two of those (Db snorkel). I gave them away (to folks on this forum, I think). They do work, although they do not reduce the sound level as much as you would think. They are a bit messy. Mine used to drip spooge on my rear brake caliper.

Re: wants a quieter exhaust
The stock exhaust system is quite a bit quieter - but it's not so noticable when you are next to the bike (all the other engine rattles being heard probably!!).
Get a friend to ride the bike away from where you are standing and you'll find the noise from the stock setup doesn't "carry" as far.

No longer an option unless you find an NOS/used one as they have stopped making them.bcdonyo wrote:http://www.thedbsnorkel.com/
