Boyesen super stock reeds.
Hello all. I was doing some work on my new to me e series kdx last night and had a question. I installed a new boot that connects between the carb and the head since it was weather cracked. While I was in there I installed a new set of boyesen super stock reeds. After getting everything assembled I kicked her over and she didn't want to idle. I adjusted the idle and all seems fine now but I was just curious if this was a normal situation going from the stock reeds to the boyesen series. It seems to be smoking a bit more then it was before, but that may just be my perception deceiving me. Any opinions are appreciated thanks.

Replacing worn out reeds with new ones, regardless if they are stock, boyesen, or any other type, will affect the idle air mixture. So yeah, normal.

The weather cracked intake boot may have also been leaking a little air leaning out the motor a bit.
