The rubber boot on top of the carb is torn and broken. The parts diagram doesn't
show this boot at all. So I can't get a replacement. Is it okay to run with this broken?
Will it cause air leak into the carb?

Re: Boot on top of carb
i think the boot is to help keep water from finding its way into the carb ,some older mx bikes have them but not seen one on a kdx before . you could try a bicycle inner tube pulled down onto the top of the carb & cable tie it to the throttle cable ..i have thought about doing this mod to my bike as i often ride when its wet & i sometimes get water in my carb/base of the slide (if i ride fast through water) which i think finds its way in through the top of the carb where the throttle cable goes in.

Boot on top of carb

Yes. It comes with an OEM cable and it does show on the fiche in the cables diagram. $26 from one on-line source (plus shipping, natch..another $8 or so).
There is also a boot on the MotionPro cable. Unless they fixed it, though, that boot does NOT fit. The carb end is too big.

CC is correct, that boot is still f'up. You'll have to McGyver it to make it properly fit.

Re: Boot on top of carb
I got that from a BRush post, It's not my figger'n of anything.
MP cables have been a problem more'n once. They (MP cables) didn't fit on my Banshee. I 'informed ' them about that, and supposedly they fixed that boo-boo.
Seems worth the time and expense to just get the right cable in the first place. OEM, I'm sayin'.
